A snowstorm that dumped wet, heavy snow in the Foothills area overnight led to power outages and school closures in the region.

According to Fortis Alberta, outages occurred in Okotoks, Diamond Valley, Longview and parts of Foothills County on April 30.

Outages and weather conditions led to several school closures, including all schools in Diamond Valley, Red Deer Lake School, Millarville Community School, and Longview School, said Foothills School Division.

In a special weather statement, Environment Canada said more heavy snow is on the way, beginning in the evening on April 30.
